To my understanding, if a person holding EAD is allowed to change jobs, he is not really tied to any particular employer. But the job description according to the I-485 form should hold true to anything you do till it is approved.
I am not sure if you can take a leave of absence, though. My hunch, would be 'no'. I am also in a similar situation and looking for some advice. Let me know, if you find an answer.

As i decided that this GC process should not hold me captive i went ahead made plans for my MBA education. Now I have an admission from INSEAD france for classes starting 2007.
IF my employer gives me Pesonal Leave of Abscene for one year....without pay
can I take off for studies without impacting the GCprocess?
Since I will be moving out of my residenec should I inform the INS of a new address friends) so that they can send EAD/AP etc..
I would love to connect to anyone who is similar situation......

Our first New York meet started with a small meet at a Starbucks in Manhattan. After that we have been having frequent meetups and the attendence is considerably increasing.

yeah I like the updated splash... and about my page... I know it is huge it is in NO way permenent... just something I am toying with, I'll end up only using elements of different pictures on that page for my splash.. plus I didnt compress the images at all - like I said VERY temporary. I'll let you all know when I update my splash along with my new site

Answer to original question: YES any legal resident can buy Guns in CA. There is a test to be passed at authorised Gun dealer and there is a 10 days waiting period before you can be issued a gun.
However What about learning to use the weapons? Are there places where one can learn it?

Travel thru UK on advance parole. Did anyone travel thru UK on advance parole. Do you know if you can travel thru UK on advance parole(with UK TRANSIT OR VISIT VISA). Do you need to have USA VISA STAMP.

My case is already at the embassy since march 2007? Not sure when they schedule interview ?does anyone know the time lines.
Did you check the Embassy website? They post the interview dates for all the applicants scheduled for the following month. You can email them or call them and I am sure they will respond.

I recently filed 485 last week for myself and my wife. I am planning to go to school next year fall. I am expecting to get my EAD before that, but I dont think my 485 will be approved by then. If I go to school, will my 485 be cancelled ? Please let me know.

My attorney filed my I-485 on July 5th despite the July Visa Bulletin Update. We filed it together with the work permit piece, but not the AP one. The legal assistant told me that we must have an I-485 receipt notice on hand before we are able to submit the application for an AP. Is that correct? The reason I ask is that, in the event USCIS decides to accept July-filed I-485 applications, I wanted to take advantage of the lower filing fee before July 30th. Please advise!

Why is it that people who have filed after me have already received their notice and had checks cashed? I thought it is based on when the application is received is how they process- I am freaking out thinking that my application fell behind a desk somewhere....

The green side of the story is, USCIS will try to attract new applications. For this DOS need to move the dates further.

Introduce a new process of filing 485 for administrative processing (which is in talks) even before your PD is current as per visa bulletin as soon as 140 approval.
I see this good for people waiting to file for 485.

I think OP is correct as CIR will not pass this year. Remember Mr bush took advantage 8 years ago and won election. Even he may knew that it will not pass. Same way Raid may know that it may not pass but what is wrong to take advantage of pushing CIR. Even if it doesnot pass or introduced he may win because Hispanic will think if he wins he may bring CIR for sure.
Now in near future Mr President does not have any benefit of CIR unless he runs for next term. So for him delayed CIR is good. till 2011. So it may be win-win for both. Raid will make a vocal for it now and will win election and OBAMA will keep silence and make attempt in 2011. If passes or not he may win election again.
Only catch is if hispanic people think that Replicans didnot help them and now dems not going to help again so they may not give vote to Dems as punishment and that may hurt.

After entering US on AP you need to inform you employer. Your status after entering on AP makes you a Parolee ??????????
Inform verbally/New I9 Form? I haven't done this in past. I did used AP 2-3 times in past & haven't informed employer. What employer is going to do if we inform that we are on parolee status? Any USCIS law tells this to do?
Can any lawyer comment on this situation?

Exception 4 - have a question around this statement: For German transit VISA
- are holding a valid visa or other residence permit for the USA (this includes advance paroles, but not approval notices), Canada or Switzerland and travel to the country which issued that visa or residence permit
do not need transit VISA.
Does that mean if you are travelling from India to US (with valid US Visitor VISA) u need a transit VISA.
Above exception seem to appy only if u are travelling to country that issued u the VISA (india), but in this case we are travelling from that Country to US.
